Touch of Beauty’s ‘stay at home’ makeup tips ft. Mii Cosmetics
Hello! While our salon is temporarily closed for the UK lockdown, we’re sharing some hair & makeup tips to help keep some normality during this strange time. Whether you’re working from home, looking after the kids or just keeping busy around the house, a little bit of self-care can make a big difference to your confidence.
In this first of the series, our beautician, Kate is keeping things simple with some basic makeup tips that you can do at home. For video calls (work or personal), nipping to the shop for essentials or just to boost your mood: 5 minutes in front of the mirror is all you need.
Step One: Skincare
A skincare routine is the first step to any makeup look. If you don’t already have one, now may be the time to create a simple skincare routine for yourselves. Keeping hydrated, washing your face and moisturizing are just some of the key things to keep in mind. Keep an eye on our upcoming blogs for more skincare advice from Kate.
Before any makeup, apply a primer such as the Mii Smoothing Face Prep. A good primer will help your makeup to last longer and avoid sitting in fine lines and wrinkles, which is great for those close up video calls!
Step Two: Base
While a full-face of contouring isn’t something you can learn overnight; a small bit of base makeup can go a long way. Apply a little bit of concealer, foundation or tinted moisturiser and top with a dab of blush for a fresh-faced look whilst video calling your friends and colleagues.
For an extra glow on camera, a pop of Mii Light Loving Illuminator on the cheekbones and brow can make all the difference and is one of our personal favourites.
Step Three: Eyes
Another of our everyday essentials is a quick slick of your favourite mascara. Well-applied mascara can open up the eyes and make you look well-rested even if you’re struggling with sleep at the moment. If you’re feeling extra fancy, for the weekends, or if you’re doing #FullFaceFriday, why not pick up some strip lashes on your next essential shop? *If the supermarket stocks them of course!
Step Four: Lips
Last but not least, a tinted lip balm or gloss can add a pop of colour that will boost your mood and keep your lips from drying. Just remember to wash your hands before and after if you’re applying with your fingers.
We hope you enjoyed the first of our hair & beauty from home series. We’re looking forward to having you back in our salon as soon as possible. But, for now, we hope our tips can help you to feel good. Keep an eye out for more advice from our beautician and stylists on how to pamper yourselves at home.
